Garden Edging Ideas

I have many different beds and methods of planting throughout my yard. I have plants in containers on my front porch, but then I also have a container garden out back.

I have a cinder block bed, and wood bed, some large bag beds but to round all of these areas out and make them easier to reach and tend, I have mulch around them for walking and I have different garden edgings to keep the mulch in and make it look nice :).

Garden Edging Ideas

I battle with my lawn…. weeds… I don’t really have a lawn – it’s sad grass mixed with all sorts of weeds. If it were up to me the entire thing would be mulch with beds everywhere.

Garden edging not only makes things look good, and hold in the mulch but it also (when installed correctly) makes the best barrier for keeping weeds and grass out of the garden.

Using garden edging is a practical landscape design for your garden. As well as holding mulch in place, it can also prevent the mower and weed eater from damaging your vegetables and flowers.

There are a lot of different options when it comes to edging: You can use things from high quality garden edging stones to simple trenches. Once you create a distinct border in your garden beds, you’re discouraging grass, creeping weeds, and small insects from creeping into your garden. Keep in mind your outdoor space doesn’t have to have straight lines, be creative.

There are as many different ways to edge a garden as their are stars in the sky – again use your imagination and get creative. Here are a few things that come to mind when we think of traditional garden edging:

Keep in mind when planning your garden areas that someone has to mow, so try and keep lines as straight as you can. A wavy border can be quite lovely, but to mow it is a feat.
