I cannot tell you how many times I have stood in the garden center trying to calculate how much soil or what amount of mulch do I need for particular areas to get maximin square feet coverage. Yes, I KNOW I should have done it at home first – but that would have been the easy way – lol.

But another thing is even when I figure it out, I get to the store and there will be 10 bags of soil and they will be 32qt, 40lbs, 1 cubic feet bags…. ugh!  How in the world do I figure that out and what bag size do I need for my layer of mulch or soil.

It’s especially difficult if you’re trying to figure out the volume of mulch or soil you need if you’re not working with a rectangular shape. That’s why this much and potting mix calculator is so handy.

So, I decided to make it easy for you and for me!  I found this mulch and potting soil volume calculator: to help answer the question:  How Much Soil Do I Need? and How Much Mulch Do I Need?
