These Women Need Some Serious LISTENING Skills!
At the beginning of this episode we’re still in Iceland, it’s the last night, and Peggy has come out of her room to see Lydia. Lydia is just a good friend, she knows how to treat people, she’s not dumb like these other women.
She called Peggy to her room to sit down with her and see that she’s okay before the rest of the trip finishes up.
As the rest of the girls are getting ready to go to dinner Vicki says that it’s totally mean girl hazing and they completely misunderstand Peggy. Which is all wonderful and I’m thinking what a great thing that Vicki said this and then she finishes up by saying: “but I’m not going to get involved and I’m going to stay neutral…”.
Okay there’s a time to stay neutral and there’s a time to not stay neutral. She’s staying neutral when all of these women are ganging up on one woman for no reason. You stay neutral when two people are fighting about something and they’re able to handle their own stuff. This is not that, this is bullying. I know that word is way overused and I hate when people use it wrong. But, I believe in this case they are a gang of mean girls and have picked on and bullied Peggy.
At dinner Shannon says if Tamara wants to be friends with Vicki she’s fine with that. But, her face and the daggers she is staring into Tamara say different…
It’s so sweet that Lydia stayed behind with Peggy, and Peggy realizes that Lydia is being such a good friend and she decides she can’t let Lydia miss the last night and the dinner she arranged. So, they head off together for the diner.
I have decided that Peggy is not loud enough and she doesn’t talk fast enough. Because that is how you have to be to communicate with these women. They just talk, and yell, and jump up and make noise!
You have to be the loudest and get your message out FAST for them to even TRY and hear you. But, they won’t shut up long enough to hear what she’s saying.
Peggy said the baby was crying, and immediately they go off the deep end and say Peggy was calling Megan a bad Mom, however she tells Meghan over and over that she thinks she’s a wonderful Mom, but, no one hears or cares about that.
Here’s what Peggy was saying that they didn’t hear: “I heard the baby crying for a while, so, I went down the hall to make sure everything was okay, and what I heard was you guys laughing at me.” BUT, unfortunately, she didn’t say that loud enough or fast enough for anybody to get it. Because they won’t shut up and they won’t listen to her. They think that she was saying that Meghan is a bad mom, that’s not what she was saying it all. She just meant that she heard the baby crying for a while and that’s what prompted her to go out in the hall. She went to make sure everything was okay and when she did, she heard the ladies down the hall laughing at her. But, Shannon jumped in after Peggy got out the words “Meghan I heard your baby crying…” and that was it, her fate was sealed.
I will say this, as a Mother of 4, if I were on a trip and heard a friend’s baby crying for a long time, I would go to see if I could be of help, or go find the Mom in case she didn’t hear the baby or needed to check up on the babysitter. I TOTALLY get why Peggy went out there. I cannot STAND to hear a sweet a baby crying and no one coming to their aid. So, it would be tough for me not to at least check on the situation. But, they don’t care what happened, they completely jumped to conclusions and down her throat in SECONDS!
It’s funny that Vicki can mess everything up when she spends time with the girls and if it were Brianna in Vicki’s shoes, she would have handled it all perfectly! lol
It seems as if, even though I think Vicki was being a coward, she and Peggy have come to an understanding at this lunch – as 2 grown women.
I think It’s kind of telling that Shannon is pouring all this love and attention into this dog instead of trying to get to the bottom of what’s going on with her and David. It’s almost like she is giving up and she’s saying that he’s checked out. This is really so sad to watch.
What were your thoughts on this episode? Do you think Peggy will ever be able to get her points across in any situation with these women? Should Vicki have stood up for Peggy? Will Vicki and Tamra come out of this trip with a rekindled friendship? Will Shannon let them?
