Project Runway: A Sad End To The Twins
Oh my – the saga of the twins has been something! From the very beginning Sean and Claire (winners of VH1’s Twinners):
Have had issues on Project Runway from day one! The other contestants complained that they over enunciated everything. Apparently they got word of that and toned it down, and then the other contestants complained that they ran all over the design room like chickens with their heads cut off calling each other’s name. Then they complained that they helped each other too much and made it not so much individual challenges.
After the last complaint, Tim mentioned it to the judges and they thought it would be best to put them in a 1 hour head to head challenge where they couldn’t help each other. HEARTBREAKINGLY hard for them! But, we all knew that Claire was carrying Shawn, all of the designers knew it, too. So, finally Shawn gave up and said she couldn’t do it on her own and they sent her home.
The very next challenge was a Dixie to go cup challenge where they had to design a print and use it in a design challenge. Claire won for the best print and design outfit. Dixie awarded her $25k for the win and the print would be used on their new Dixie to go cups…. Except that Michael walked off the runway and went backstage saying she cheated. Margarita had complained since the beginning of the challenge that she was copying a shirt she had made and that in past challenges the twins had copied things they owned. Now, if you have watched Project Runway for even one season you knew that accusation wouldn’t hold. They draw inspiration from each other all the time.
However… Michael said she had a tape measure in her room and would measure her own clothes and write the measurements down at night. Having a tape measure, pen, pencil, or paper to write on is against the rules. Once Tim confronted Claire and she admitted to it, she lost the $25k she won just minutes before and was sent packing! All in the first 15 minutes! Whew! What drama!
My personal feeling is Michael was over the top walking off stage, Margarita was over the top whining about Claire’s design, and the other designer’s having known this should have approached Tim or production WAY earlier in the season! Other people went home that may have had more time to develop and it could have possible changed the outcome of the game.
So, the winner defaulted to Brandon’s look:

I love Yolanda, and was happy to see her as a judge for that runway show. She’s always been a very straightforward person on The Real Housewives Of Orange County. She’s been in this world most of her life and is continuing on closely as her children enter the same world. Yolanda wasn’t standing for Michael walking off and acting like that. I think Claire actually handled herself beautifully even though it really made her nuts, she went straight to them and said what and why which was awesome, I think. However, that seemed to change and she became defensive when she got in the room with all of the designers.
I think that the decision was right, she broke the rules, nobody else broke the rules, she has to go home, which is a shame.
On to the next challenge as the above was actually a continuation of last week’s show. This week the designer’s were supposed to make an avant-garde look based on Shopkins Shoppies. In my opinion no one did that except Ayana. They were described as “described as having a theme from head to toe , fun, colorful, cute, and a little bit quirky”. Ayana’s design was dead on:
From the cute bow on the top all the way down to the adorable polka dots and tulle – this should have been the winning look!
The look that should have lost?:
It fits NONE of the criteria: fun, cute, colorful, quirky, and it looks EXACTLY like everything else he has put down the runway. PLUS, why were the girls there anyway?! Because HIS girl said chocolate, chocolate, chocolate… I see NOTHING chocolate about it. I think they didn’t bring the girls back because they would have all chosen Ayana’s and been bored by the rest…
This one also didn’t work for me:
They had the little girls come on in the beginning to share their favorite “Shoppie” and give them their take. I think Ayana is the only one who listened and designed for the dolls,
Poor Amy got homesick and lost in this challenge, I really thought she was a contender in the beginning of the season when they said she taught design.
On a side note, I do think it would be fun if Zack did one of these challenges, just for fun!
What’s your take this week?
